Brandenburg & Friends
The Brandenburg siblings are passionate about finding cures for cancer. For nearly 20 years, they have been raising money for cancer-related charities. Cancer is not a foreign idea to the Brandenburg’s - they lost both of their parents to the disease. One evening, before their mother passed, the family was gathered in their living room watching ESPN and they saw the recording of Jim Valvano’s famous 1993 ESPY speech.

Never Give Up Softball Tournament
In 1995, Dominic Colavito was fighting for his life after being diagnosed with testicular cancer. Moved to hospice care, he said his final goodbyes to his friends and family. “A few things always stayed with me throughout, which were to have a positive attitude, accept support, trust in my doctors and the treatment and, most importantly, Never Give Up,” Dominic said about his battle against cancer.

A Night Out
When Greg's friends learned he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, they knew they had to do something to raise his spirits. They aimed high and tried to figure out how to get in touch with Coach Mike Krzyzewski, "Coach K", Duke University men's basketball head coach and V Foundation board member.

A Very Willy Christmas
Since 2002, Will Michalopoulos has been creating his holiday CD. It started out as a CD for family Christmas parties, but as the number of recipients grew, the idea of using it as a fundraiser was born. The holiday mix has evolved into a major fundraiser for cancer research and has grown every year.

Cornholin' Cancer
In the spring of 2013, Tom Ventress and Erin Heffner married in front of family and friends. It was a perfect day. But as they left for their honeymoon, they detoured for the hospital with Erin in excruciating pain. Doctors found a softball-sized cyst on her ovary, which tests showed as cancerous.

Major Challenge to Bump Out Cancer
Two years ago, in 2017, Major Challenge to Bump Out Cancer was started to raise money for the V Foundation in support of cancer research to honor Kimberly Major. Kimberly was a long-time member of the Colorado Ski and Snowboard Meetup group and frequently on The Steamboat Winter's Eve trips. About five years ago, Kimberly was diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer, a fairly rare cancer with a very high mortality rate.

Pedal 2 the Pines
Pedal to the Pines was formed in 2013 with the mission of raising money through cycling to support cancer research. Each year, organizer John Sadler and his Pedal to the Pines team host a signle-day 100+ mile bicycle ride from Northwest Indiana to Grand Junction, Michigan. Through word of mouth and social media, the event has grown from a small three-man team of cicyclists, to a 40-50 person event in just a few short years.
