Our loving father was diagnosed at 60 years of age with Stage IV metastatic small cell prostate cancer. His doctors at Princess Margaret recommended he undergo gene testing given his young age, as well as the aggressive nature of his cancer. His test results were positive for the BRCA1 gene mutation, which was likely passed down by his mother who had inflammatory breast cancer and passed away at the age of 52. His dear sister was also positive for the BRCA1 gene mutation and passed away from ovarian cancer at the age of 57. His daughter Samantha has also been recently tested and was positive for the BRCA1 gene mutation.
Our family has had a lot of heartbreak due to beautiful people taken way too young. Research into new screening guidelines, prevention, treatment, and cure for BRCA positive related cancers is essential for future generations who are carriers of the BRCA gene mutation.
Please join us in the fight to conquer cancer by donating to the BRCA Fund - V Foundation in honour of Francesco Passarelli, a caring husband, father, and friend who will be forever missed. Our goal is to reach $61,000 to represent the number of years he graced us with his presence on this earth.
