I am excited to participate in the 2018 Victory Ride to Cure Cancer, a cycling event in support of the V Foundation for Cancer Research. Your donation toward my ride supports world-class cancer centers in North Carolina and across the United States.
Do you know someone who has been impacted by cancer? Almost everyone does, and the statistics are truly staggering: one in two men and one in three women in the U.S. will be touched by cancer. The Victory Ride and the V Foundation are committed to changing those numbers, and so am I!
My mother bravely battled breast and later lung cancer for 20 years, passing shortly before the birth of the first grandchild, my daughter. My father was able to spend a bit more time with his granddaughter, but lost his battle with lung cancer shortly after her first birthday. I often wonder what their prognosis would have been with the advancments that have been made in the twenty years since they have been gone. My mother-in-law is a breast cancer survivor of five years, and was recently diagnosed with throat cancer. She received cutting edge treatment and has a very positive long term prognosis, thanks to treatment options that have not always been available, as well as a super support network. While treatment is winding down, her journey to overall health has just begun. I am dedicating this 100 mile bike ride to her victory.
I know that research saves lives. And I know that it is under-funded. I am joining the Victory Ride to help the V Foundation achieve victory over cancer. And you can be part of that, too. Please - make a tax-deductible donation today!
