DIY Golf Fundraiser FAQ’s
Q: WHAT TYPE OF GOLF EVENT SHOULD I HOST?
A: This is where you get to be creative. The most important thing is that you choose an event format that you are excited about and will enjoy planning. While the options are endless, we have seen success in the following formats:
When selecting a golf event format and planning your fundraiser, it is critical to consider the cost of hosting the event. The less the event costs to host, the more money you will be able to contribute to cancer research. Careful event and format selection and planning along with the recruitment of sponsors and in-kind donations can all help reduce the cost of the event.
Q: WHEN SHOULD I HAVE MY EVENT?
A: The biggest factor you will need to consider is the weather. You will need to work with your venue to identify dates when the venue is available and finally, you and your event committee can determine which of these options will allow you to maximize the support of your friends and community.
Q: DO I NEED TO REGISTER MY EVENT ONLINE WITH THE V FOUNDATION?
A: No, but we strongly recommend you do. Registering your event with us will give you access to a toolkit of resources designed to help you plan and host a successful golf fundraiser for cancer research. Registration will also grant you access to a customizable webpage for promoting your event, which can serve as a central hub of information for your event and allow donors to give directly to your fundraising initiative.
Q: IS THERE A FUNDRAISING MINIMUM FOR HAVING A FUNDRAISER TO BENEFIT THE V FOUNDATION?
A: Every dollar plays an important role in the fight against cancer. No contribution is too small.
Q: CAN I HAVE ACCESS TO THE V FOUNDATION LOGO FOR MY FUNDRAISER?
A: When you register your event with us, we will provide access to the V Foundation supporter logo and banners created specifically for use on social media pages.
Q: CAN A V FOUNDATION REPRESENTATIVE COME TO MY EVENT?
A: We are fortunate to have committed people like yourself who host more than 300 events each year to benefit the V Foundation. While we wish we could be at all of these events, unfortunately, it is not feasible. We are, however, available by phone and email to answer your questions and help you host an incredibly successful event.
Q: DO I NEED TO SET UP A 501(c.)(3) FOR MY EVENT?
A: No, you do not. Creating a 501(c)(3) organization is a lengthy and expensive process and it is not necessary for volunteer event organizers to hold this classification.
